Gerald and Ellen Pitzenbarger opened Cafe Beaujolais on March 7, 1969 serving dinners on weekends only. The Pitzenbarger family lived in the upstaires portion of the house.
In March 1977 Margaret Fox acquired the restaurant and property and began serving breakfast and lunch, turning Cafe Beaujolais into the culinary destination that it remains today. Margaret also began the Cafe Beaujolais mail order bakery. In the spring of 1984 the restaurant began serving dinner, with Executive Chef Christopher Kump. In 1990 the Beaujolais brickery was opened, and the resaturant began serving and selling wood-fired brick oven bread.
In June of 2000 the restaurant was sold to loyal Beaujolais customers Steve and Ashley Jenks, who kept the tradition alive while adding a fresh, modern look to the interior.
Chef David LaMonica and co-owner Kristy Bishop purchased the Cafe Beaujolais restaurant, bakery, brickery and the beautiful garden property in May of 2006. David and Kristy welcome and invite you to Cafe Beaujolais to share in their love of food and dining. |
